This website presents the books written by Eliyahu Agassi, who was born in Baghdad in
1909, and was the youngest son of the famous Baghdadi Rabbi Shimon Ben Aharon
Agassi. Eliyahu left Baghdad when he was 19 years old, and came to Israel on 1928.
Eliyahu was active in the Mapai Party, and was nominated the Head of the Arabic
Department in the Histadrut organization. Among his mentors were Moshe Sharet, Aharon
Barkat and Aba Hushi, the leaders of the Party. He contributed in developing good
relations between Arabs and Jews in Israel, and organized the Arabic workers as a Union
under the Histadrut organization. Later he was the editor of the "Hakikat Al Amar"
newspaper.
His hobby was collecting Baghdadi folklore and children stories, which later were edited
and published in four books for children and in numerous school books.
I dedicate this website to the memory of my beloved late parents, Eliyahu and Ada, to my
beloved close family, my wife Miri, and my children Uri, Maya and Na'ama.
